VuuNotes

A simple, lightweight note-taking application for Linux.

VuuNotes stores each note as a plain text (.txt) file in ~/Documents/VuuNotes/ (or a custom folder you choose).
No database, no bloat — just reliable plain-text notes.

Features

• Treeview list of notes on the left
• Main editing pane on the right
• Automatic clickable URL detection
• Live title/content search
• Choose default or custom notes folder on first run
• Very small and fast (great for older machines)

How to Use

• Click "New Note" > write note > enter title > Save
• Select a note to edit or delete
• Search bar filters notes as you type (Clear button resets)

Tip: Any files you manually drop in the notes folder must end with .txt.

Building from Source

Dependencies

sudo apt install build-essential pkg-config libgtk-3-dev

Compile

gcc -o vuunotes vuunotes.c $(pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-3.0)

Install

sudo install -Dm755 vuunotes /usr/local/bin/vuunotes
sudo install -Dm644 vuunotes.desktop /usr/local/share/applications/vuunotes.desktop
